The Cameron Trophy Association was a competition comprising local clubs Caledonia, Christmas Hills, Kangaroo Ground & Panton Hill. The rules & fixtures were released which included the newly formed Warrandyte Cricket Club. After losing a low scoring warm up game against Kangaroo Ground, the WCC lead by John Till played it first ever game in competition against Christmas Hills at the WCG on Novermber 18. Despite Warrandyte leading after the 1st innings, the opposition won outright. The club chalked up it's first win the following game against Kangaroo Ground. Round 3 saw the club's first ever haul of 7 wickets with John Till taking 7/26, but it wasn't enough to stop Caledonia claiming the points in a tense finish. Needing 137 to win in the 2nd innings, we fell just 10 runs short. After a bye in round 4, and an intra-club Married vs Single match, Warrandyte started hitting their straps with easy wins over Panton Hill & Christmas Hills. Then in round 7, WCC batting first amassed a huge 280. Until then a team score of 100 was considered challenging. John Till, who was dropped on the first ball he faced, went on to score the club's first ever century. WCC then rolled an 8-man Kangaroo Ground, who were led by Fred Topping, for 42 & 65 to claim an outright. That left the club needing a win against Caledonia in the last round to have any chance of finishing on top, but the eventual premiers proved too strong & won comfortably. After the season was finished, a play-off for runner-up was arranged between 2nd placed Christmas Hills & 3rd placed Warrandyte, which the former won 60 runs to 49.

The club's second season saw local town stalwart Fred Topping switch from Kangaroo Ground, and William Moore begin his 126 game career. In what was to turn out a pivotal Round 1 clash on October 20 1906 against Yarra Glen, a strong club that were playing their first season in the Cameron Trophy, play was postponed until the end of the season as play was not finished in the required time. The scores were left with Warrandyte in trouble at 110 & 6/63 to Yarra Glen 120. John Till scored 82 in the innings & 44 run victory over Panton Hill, while Fred Topping smashed 62 in the innings & 26 run win over Kinglake. There was great interest in the Round 5 return clash against Yarra Glen, who along with Warrandyte were undefeated. On this occasion the away team was victorious with the 'Dyters winning outright by 56 runs. With 2 weeks off due to the bye, the club played matches against Carlton & Templestowe. Round 7 saw another innings win against Panton Hill followed by Kinglake abandoning their next game. The association announced its rep squad which included WCC players Till, Bennie, Hodgson & Topping, the latter scoring 80 at the WCG in the win against Caledonia in the final round. This brings us back to the unfinished Round 1 clash against Yarra Glen, which was scheduled to conclude the week after the last round. With the premiership awarded to the team finishing on top, Yarra Glen, whose only loss was at the hands of the undefeated Warrandyte, held the upper hand and were still a chance of claiming the flag if they won. And with the home team with a lead of just 53 runs with 4 wickets in hand it appeared likely, especially when Hodgson was cleaned bowled & Fred Topping was dropped in the very first over. In front of a large attendance at the WCG, Topping was then joined by A.Soper, and the pair put on a vital 19 runs for the 8th wicket. But both fell in succession & the innings ended on 84, leaving Yarra Glen the target of 75 runs. A slow but steady opening stand of 28 put them in the box seat, until the bowling combination of Livy & Hodgson went through the top order to have them staggering at 5/41. Wickets continued to fall at 6/52, 7/55 & when the 8th wicket fell at 66, Yarra Glen had only 1 wicket left due to one of their players not showing up and needing 9 to win. One run was added before John Till cleaned bowled the last batsman to give Warrandyte it's first ever premiership.
