2009/10 Season

Hi to all current and aspiring Veterans Cricketers.

Once again the cricket season is fast approaching and I need to advise the RDCA as to the intentions of Warrandyte Cricket Club in fielding teams in the Masters (Over 40’s) and Legends (Over 50’s) competitions for the coming season.

I need your assistance in confirming whether you will be available for selection, the team in which you prefer to play (if over 50) and any comments you may want to make concerning the Club’s involvement in this competition.

It is again intended to field a team in each of the competitions but, of course, this will depend on the numbers that respond.

We are in need of new recruits so if you know of anyone that may be interested in being involved, please provide contact details to enable follow up contact.

As our ages increase commensurate to bowling averages, dropped catches, strained muscles, and in direct opposition to batting averages, the privilege of continued participation in a game of cricket, in an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie, remains paramount. 

You will not be required to play all matches (unless you want to) and will have plenty of time to recover from that sublime innings, amazing bowling feat or spectacular catch that lifts the spirit and brings a smile to your face as you try to get out of bed on Monday mornings.

The competition will commence in mid- October with 7 matches in each of Masters and Legends alternating fortnightly. Generally there  are 4 matches before Christmas, and 3 after, with finals completed by the first weekend in March.

We’re a long time not playing so make the most of it while you can.
